Though illustrator Se-eun Park’s works are mostly hand-drawn, she also works with various other media such as paintings on paper, calendars, postcards, and motion graphics. With a keen interest in free-form expressions and lively colors, Se-eun draws what captures her attention. While her primary muse is nature—flowers, plants, and birds—she has recently begun experimenting with alphabet-inspired drawings as well. Her greatest joy lies in spreading colors and happiness through her art.

Favourite childhood memory?

On weekends, we’d usually go on family road trips, and I’d lie on the back seat of my dad’s car, staring at a map of the whole country. I loved feeling the car’s vibrations as I lay there, relaxed and joyful, looking at the paper map.

Favourite season?

Summer. I love the overflowing energy of summer. The vivid colors in everything around me make me happy every day.

Favourite sound?

The fresh, light, and cool sound of the wind brushing against the leaves of a big tree & The laughter of people I love.

Favourite object?

There are so many objects I love! One that comes to mind is a Vitra elephant keyring made of chocolate-colored leather with cadmium green stitching. I received it as a delightful surprise in a lovely place, and it always brings back that pleasant memory.

Who inspires you?

People who are full of passion for what they do, and children all around the world!

What’s the best part about collaborating with Halcyon Nights?

I love that my illustrations are printed big and bold, just like the originals, and that they can get closer to the children I love.It makes me so happy to think that kids from all over the world can enjoy my work! Halcyon Nights is amazing for making it possible to spark children’s imagination with such bold prints.
